Giant

Trapped in an active war-zone, two parents struggle to distract their young daughter by inventing a fantastical tale. Inspired by real events, this immersive virtual-reality experience transports the viewer into the family’s makeshift basement shelter. The parents’ fairytale intensifies as bomb-blasts draw closer and closer…

Artist lecture

Wednesday, 13th of September at 2PM

Milica will share her unique perspectives on utilizing virtual reality to tap into positive social change. She will discuss her VR pieces Giant and Tree, which premiered at Sundance in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and the process behind making them. By using cutting-edge technology in each project the team needed to develop brand new pipelines. Milica will focus on the effects of combining 4D elements (including touch, heat, wind and scent) with cinematic visuals and spatial audio, to tell stories in an interactive virtual reality setting and what impact she has witnessed from showing this work around the world. Looking forward, Milica will discuss some of her upcoming projects, Breathe and Rainforest.

2nd place:

Barbara Jazbec (SI): Define; party (3’15”)

Definition of a party:
a social gathering of invited guests, typically involving eating, drinking, and entertainment.
To be stuck in time on your party that you cannot leave. It can mean that you have a fear of being left alone or on the other hand it can mean that you can also have fun by yourself. Sometimes it is fine to be left alone so you should beat the fear and have fun on your own way where you do not need to follow any popular trends you can just simply be you.

3. mesto:

Unikatne obrazne podobe, ki so mi v vsakdanjem življenju blizu, skušam prikazati skozi personalno percepcijo dojemanja človeka, in to v obliki igre Hipoksihtov.

Ostali videi v tekmovalnem izboru

Selma Selman (BA): Superpozicija (4’32”)

The performance titled; “Superposition” I subject my own body to contradicting identities and functions. I will fight, protect and train myself simultaneously.
As an artist, I exist as a person performing many identities and roles simultaneously.
In Superposition, I attached a VR camera to my fist and performed the role of my own trainer, fighter and opponent by punching myself and encouraging myself to both defend and attack myself while doing both at the same time.
